Flowers of the Indian summer

This year the Indian heat wave broke records for the highest temperature, and though I considered myself completely acclimatized, this time the effect ofΒ  feeling half boiled all the time is starting to show πŸ™‚ The kids feel no better too. The monsoon is needed so badly… Anyway, this post is not about our misfortunes, but about one thing I like about this time of the year – the abundance of flowering plants. Flowers of the Indian summer come in a vast array of shapes, colors and fragrances. Here are just a few of them – all the photos wereΒ  taken in my neighborhood. I’ve made sure to identify the names of all the flowers, so you can research on any of them in case you get curious. For now, enjoy the visual treat πŸ™‚

    • Visiting India in summer is a bit challenging, but there are certain advantages to it – one of such advantages is in this post πŸ™‚ Hope you’ll come again soon.

  1. There are a couple of flower trees which are synonymous with an Indian summer : Palash (Butea monosperma) and Mahua (Madhuca longifolia). In the summers, these trees shed every single leaf, and are completely bejewelled with dense red rich flowers. What a site to see. Makes the Indian summer so gorgeous.
