If you’ve been to India and tasted chapati, it might be difficult for you to switch back to the usual bread once you’re at home. The good news is that chapati recipe is very simple, affordable and easy to make. Chapatis are not only tasty, but also much healthier than most breads we usually eat. So, it will take you just around 10 minutes to make 6 chapatis, and you can spoil yourself with a taste of India no matter in which part of the world you are.

Basically you’ll need only two ingredients – whole wheat flour and water. You’ll also need a little of sunflower/olive oil and salt to taste. Well, take a cup (around 200 ml) of wheat flour, add 1 tablespoon of oil and salt to taste, and make a dough by adding warm water. The dough should be elastic, but not sticky. Knead it well, then put aside and forget about it for half an hour.

Then divide it into 6 parts and roll them out into thin rounds. Fry them on a frying pan (in India we use tava), let them cool down and enjoy with your favorite side dish 🙂

Sorry for not-so-artistic pictures, I just clicked a few photos in the morning while @penelope, who is my wonderful mother-in-law, was busy making chapatis for all of us. As you can see, we need a bit more than 6 🙂
