Places to visit with kids in Navi Mumbai (Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar)

There are lots of places to visit with kids in Navi Mumbai, but it took me time to discover them. I hope this post will help other parents to diversify the activities of their small ones.  We’ve been to quite a few places around Vashi, Nerul, Belapur and Kharghar, and I’ll keep updating this post every time we find something worthy and interesting. So, let’s start 🙂

Vashi

Vashi Mini Seashore

Things to do:

ride a horse
make a circle in a toy train
enjoy some merry-go-rounds
rent a boat (currently unavailable, but they keep starting it up now and then)
admire the sunset at the lake
go to the playpark across the road
buy some candy floss

Crossword and Landmark bookstores in Inorbit Mall

My kids love reading, so visiting a bookstore is always fun. In the Crossword store they have a colorful soft carpet on the floor, so they like to sit ball together and go through different kinds of books: storybooks, ABC type of books, books with sound effects, books with moveable parts and so on. And yes, we buy quite a lot of books as well 🙂

INOX movie theatre in Raghuleela Mall

Well, the movie theatres are pretty worthless where the kids are concerned – most of the time they show Bollywood and Hollywood blockbusters (which are often a synonym to rubbish), but sometimes there are also Disney cartoons and occasionally even movies for kids.

Address:

Vashi Gaon Underpass, Sector 7, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, just outside the train station

Also, all the small parks and gardens  around Vashi – I don’t think there is a single playpark we haven’t been to 🙂

Nerul

We have  two favorite places in Nerul: the rock Garden and the Wonders Park

Nerul Rock Garden

Things to do:

walk around – there is  a comfortable walking area with lots of interesting things around – sculptures, flowers, ponds, arrangements of plants and so on

take a toy train (available only in the evening)

explore the rose garden

swing and slide at the playground

have a picnic

do some exercises

The Wonders park

I’ve written a detailed post about this place before The Wonders Park in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, and of course it deserves to be included in this list. The playground of this park is the best in Navi Mumbai, I believe. Do bring your kids to the Wonders park – even if they’re not interested in miniature versions of the world wonders (the main attraction of this place), they’ll definitely appreciate the possibilities of the play area. All the equipment is imported from Denmark, and in this case it does make a difference.

Kharghar

The Central Park

Kharghar is known for the Central Park – this place is still developing and they say it’s going to be the third largest park in Asia.  However, the biggest is not always the best. The Central Park is not what I would call a wonderful recreation area, but the kids do like the big playground, replicas of different Indian musical instruments, brightly lit fountains and so on.

Kharghar Hills

There is a wonderful hilly area just outside Kharghar – an excellent spot for picnics and family getaways. Read more about the place in this post – The Kharghar Hills – if you’re in searches of a scenic spot…

Things to do:

admire the mountains and waterfalls

climb the hills and enjoy the view from the top

explore the area (my kids were fascinated by the crabs in  the streams – yes, there were crabs in the mountains 🙂 )

have a picnic

take lots of photos 🙂
