Raksha Bandhan 2014: a little rakhi photowalk

Of course, the sisterly love doesn’t need a special ritual to be expressed – it reveals itself in many little ways in the course of everyday life.  However, tiding a rakhi, or a “bond of protection” on your brother’s wrist is such a beautiful and touching gesture that the ritual can be well tolerated 🙂 Raksha Bandhan is one of my favorite Indian festivals – I like to see a bunch of red, orange and golden strings with bids beings displayed in the shops , and later proudly worn by boys and men. I like to observe girls buying  a rakhi, trying to choose  one or a few from hundreds of available options .

And of course, it’s a great opportunity for a photo walk – rakhis make a splendid photography object. The process was extremely enjoyable for me and my 5-year-old daughter, hope you’ll like the results 🙂
